for club sprints/track days no.

but if you want to go grid racing then yes you will need one.

thanks, because it looks like it would be a tight fit in a ute, theres hardly enough room for me n a passanger to fit n be comftable

Even tough they are not required I'd try and at least get a Roll Bar installed..........will one fit in the bed?? Also a well installed / fabricated cage will often fit with out interference......takes a really good cage builder. The one in my coupe is the classic none size fits all Autopower kit, it's fine in the coupe but if space were tight it wouldn't be so great.
