You probably should consider pushrod 3 valve head like one of the aftermarket chevy heads and crossflow keeping all the pushrod gear but using roller cam

...We're still waiting to hear back from that Finnish Man about his venture into building an AY12 style head. The numbers getting thrown around back then were something like 1200-1500 for the basic head that we'd have to get the engine builder to figure out the rocker geometry and stuff.

Nothing wrong with pushrods and 4 valves per cylinder if you can work out how to do it

What happened with the AY12? Has anybody heard from the Finnish man with any updates recently? He hasn't been online since the end of 2008. I think the price you mentioned above is very reasonable for what you are getting in return.

Are there many datsun events in Perth?

Nope, I haven't heard a peep, hasn't bothered me greatly since I'm not playing with that sort of disposable income at the moment.

Advantage of 4 valves over 2 is around 30% more valve area

The complexity & cost required to gain 30% more flow can be surpassed and be cheaper with a good cast turbo manifold, good inlet & correct fueling on an 2 valver A series.

If you do a search you should turn up discussions on GA16 head conversions for the A series. Bore spacing is the same and apparently only one head bolt needs to be moved 1.5mm. It would probably be the way to go and I thought about it but reality is I don't have the time or money to spend on it. Cool idea though, I hope you get there!

D, I have been down the turbo A series route already actually. It will definatley be N/A.

Have done quite a bit of reading on here on DOHC conversions etc. Should have a GA16 head by the end of the week.

Here was my turbo A series I built up-the car and motor has since been turned into a racecar!
