just curious what is popular for rear suspension upgrades
or mods for coupes mainly.
Without going stupid, just something strong for turboed motors.

New shocks and bushes are underrated and a great upgrade.

You don't want too stupid in the leaves either, you will not get traction with power. You need it to squat a little to get weight transfer of the car to assist grip.

I found adding a ute load leaf and flipping a small leave lowered it and still handled ok.

Not as good as getting proper doings made of course

Extra leaf lowered to your preferred height and konis thats all thats needed for most peeps but a sway bar can also be a good upgrade. I find a tight rear is easier to enjoy unlike some :)

A set of coil overs wouldn't go a stray.. Some place in the USA makes them ready to bolt on and pretty cheap to in my opinion

coilovers? in the rear? on top of the leaf springs, surely you are talking about the front. replacing leafs with coilover and 3/4 link is a serious job.

I agree with Unfamilia and add my two cents.
With a mild increase in power axle tranp will come into play. An overrider leaf goes some way to helping with this issue, else traction bars such as caltrac will also do the trick (But only if required and after you have done everything else). I don't ever like the idea of flipping leafs it makes the leafs work against each other and adds the wrong arch/camber to the pack, but each to their own.

King springs do a leaf pack for the coupe (DAT-501) but these lower the car significantly and are pretty stiff. The concept is good, has on overrider leaf, but they are probably stiffer then required for a road car.
I have them in my coupe (CA18 - 330rwhp) and they help with axle tramp, but were very stiff on the road.

Remembering leaf spring add a lot of roll stiffness and generally negate the need for an anti-roll bar. Best/cheapest upgrade is to stiffen the bushings and tighten everything up first. Replace your rubber bushings with urethane (Upper/lower shacks front and rear), this will aid in suspension compliance (Pedders has most of them). Once you do this then see how it feels and if you still think you need an ARB then there are kits you can install.

Shocks, the best you can afford front and rear will make a huge difference to the ride and handling quality.

Keep it simple. Often the cheapest upgrades give you the best results.

They make cool overs for the rear they bolt up the exact same as the standard shocks a company in USA make them I think it was between $300-$500 from memory

That makes little sense, you already have a spring (leaf spring) which is roughly the right spring rate (this provides both ride and roll requirements), so you then go and add another spring, for what purpose? Was the leaf spring too soft? or is it just the wank factor of having coilovers. These will not provide any better rear end control, you are still constrained to the inherent "deficiencies" found with leaf spring and still not the tunability provided by a 3/4/5 link system.

No problems, not trying to have a go at you.
I just see little point in offering advice or a solution that will provide no overall improvement.
In my view there are plenty of other bling items to waste ones money on.

you get adjustment with coilovers just gotta wind weight into or out of them simple as, try do that with a leaf spring. leaf spring would pretty well just act as a locator for the diff with that sort of setup

would take a bit of r&d with springs rates but you can adjust front/rear & left/right weights percentage, you gotta have coilovers in the front to obviously to do that but i'd assume once you got it right would be sweet. not much good for carrying weight tho
