220hp from 1.3 litre 2-valve engine from the early 70's... I have to say that's a bit hard to believe...

this is what i was going to say. seems about as good as they are doing in the touring cars these days. i know smaller engines are more efficient due to lower inertias, but i'm not sure how much more.

This thread has moved beyond the classifieds but I'll chime in.

Non-cross flow A-series have power outputs from 140HP for A-12 and 185HP for A-15, with the redlines around 9K. The heads have been highly developed by tuners who do not have anywhere near the resources that nissan would have.

I also know that E-series crossflow head on A14 is pushing the 190HP mark in full race trim but like the A-series race motors they'll only do a weekend at a time........4-6 hours running time.

Nissan could have put in 3000 hours of testing time on these so it is possible that their sprint / qualifying engine was at this level. I would expect at least 175HP from the AY12.........unless we can get Alan T or his Japanese friend to show us the ports it's hard to speculate. Many bike manufacturers were getting huge outputs from their tuned road bikes in the 70's, 200hp is possible.

Tom

Now back on topic............,maybe someday we'll get one of these heads at less than the price of a complete Cosworth BDA.

some jap a15 engines are making 10,000rpm but only for short spurts down the quarter mile.

Tom which a14 e series head hybrid makes 190hp?

is there a bellhousing adaptor to mate them to a RWD gearbox available?

also what happened to the guy that was trying to get a mazda ohc head onto an A12? apparently it was very close to lining up apart from one oil hole.

The simple answer to the classified is NO, we haven't even known of the existence of one in recent years let alone sale of one

There is no need for bellhousing adaptor, still using A-series block

I'm sure if life was as simple as one oil gallery lining up 20 people would be running Mazda heads by now
