hey guys,
started putting together my exhaust system over the week end and just wanted to run it by guys that have done this before and their experiences regard noise levels, perfoemance, and compliance with epa regs. any advice is greatly appreciated.

Basically what i was thinking of doing was 3" mandrel turbo back, hi flow cat (100cps. 1s 400cps the legal limit?), resinator between cab and diff, then muffler after diff. would this be ok?
Went past an exhaust place earlier n he advised me that running cat,res and 2! mufflers would still be to loud? option that was given was to run a 2.5" muffler right at the rear which would quietening it down( im guessing this would restrict the F#@k out of the system.)Things being so F#@&ing tight under there the only thing ive come up with is cat just sneaks in after gbox cross member then resinator under passengers ass ( after modifying floor pan) mufflers before and after diff??? this will be with all clearnace lucky to be within 5-10mm from chassi/floor pan.

Regards
Rob

I have a 3 inch stainless mandrel bend exhaust system... I run a cat and I Have a varex muffler in the rear.. With it closed I would lose a small amount of power but it was as quiet as a stock car... And open it sounded loud ;)

i think a cat and 2 mufflers would suffice, as long as there good quality they should keep it quite

i have 2.5" mandrel with a single non-straight-thru muffler and it's pretty quiet (louder than most cars when at full throttle but not horrible obnoxious)

being turbo keeps them pretty quiet

an a-series with straight through muffler is louder than my car

a fair few forester and wrx guys do 3inch then 2.5 from diff back. keeps noise down but also as the exhaust gasses cool the smaller diameter helps keep the flow rates up.... something like that... it doesnt act as a restriction with back pressure. MRT have a huge write up on it somewhere.
