hey people im having some dramas with my rodeo
im half way through an rb30t engine conversion and the motor is mounted turbo is on and its wired up
the thing is ,when i plug the NA computer in ,with a good airflow meter it runs idles and revs fine ,and sounds mint
but when i plug the turbo computer in it wont run ,just fires then stops when i crank it ,if i unplug the AFM it will start fine and idle sweet ,and i can rev it to roughly 3000rpm before it hits limiter (limp home mode)
if i start it then plug the afm in it just stalls!
whats this sound like? the screw on the side of the afm hasnt been adjusted but could that be the problem?
problem occurs no matter where i place the dizzy
anyone got an idea whats causing this ?
ill put some pics up if anyones keen to see a VL turbo motor shoe horned into a rodeo
cheers!

any chance you have a r31 atmo computer, if so the pinouts for the vl turbo computer and the r31 atmo computer fuel pump are different, could have something to do with it, I think both vl computers are the same pinouts tho. Could try a different afm, possible that the computer has been re-tuned aswell, maybe try another, or that you are running atmo injectors and they are leaning out hard. The vl turbo had 270cc injectors as opposed to 200cc.

yea thats what im thinking ,injectors for na are 185cc and the turbo ones are 270
both comps are vl ,cos trigger the fuel pump ,pin for fuel pump on vl harness is labeled as cold start on r31
found out non turbo caq injectors can be used as they are 270cc but are hi impedance so i gotta get a drop resistor of an rb20 or make up a jaycar style box
moneys the main issue haha ,thought about runniong the atmo comp with turbo injectors and then dyno it to see if its getting enough fuel ,ill only be running around 10psi so it should be fine

Sure its not just a rb 30 with the turbo added? That may mean sensors differ from my understanding. Also is the turbo ecu fried maybe.

its an na motor with all the turbo gear on it ,i rang my mate at sikemwrex racing ,and he said cos im running non turbo injectors it wont run cos theyre nearly 100cc small than turbo ones
so i found a set of injectors ,now i gotta wait for my pay so i can buy em ,200 for a set of 6 haha compared to 450ish for new ones !

Is the rb30 like the ca18, where one uses low impedance injectors and a resistor pack, where the turbo version uses high impedance injectors or is it the other way around?
You'd need to compare VL and VL turbo wiring diagrams.

My r32 rb20 stock had hi inp injectors still got them, and I've also got a drop resistor if u want to go low inp injectors, I went 444cc off a gtr and a drop resistor and z32 afm with bigger turbo and 19.8 psi on my rb20 and I make 240rwkw so a rb30et should make good power on 10psi but if not tuned you'll run out top end and run lean

yea the injectors were to blame ,borrowed some vl turbo ones and it ran sweet ,i think its cos they were a heap smaller but with a turbo computer they werent opening long enough to get it to start
all rb30 injectors are lo imp ,and if i can go without putting a resistor pack in i will cos ive heard they play up at idle or stall after a few minutes of running
na and turbo are both lo imp
on a side note ,these injectors and the brackets that hod them would be ideal for an injection setup on a a series manifold ,no need for a rail and just link the injectors up with the hose tail end things ,simple ,easy to find ,plenty of sizes available and cheap
cheers
