How's this-

What I said was- I need a third ute, and it's only $1000.
What I meant was- I don't need but want a third ute and it'll end up costing #OOPS# knows how much!

Does that work?

I have a good rally one!
Driver: "Co-driver called left 3, so I drove to his call."
What he really meant was...
"Co-driver called left 3, but I thought he said ROLL 3...4...5...and a half!"

What he said was - Hold my beer while I show you this trick.
What he meant was - I hope your insurance is up to date.

Or probably how it normally turns out...

What he said was - Hold my beer while I show you this trick.
What he meant was - Hold my beer while I show you this trick AND don't drink it you wanker...
