Yeah i asked if i could engineer it with just suspention and brakes to get the tare uo then engineer it for the engine later using the new tare. He said no coz it always goes off the standard tare

will try to get onto vicroads today and see what they say

Theres nothing to say you cant run a ca16det if you keep by all the ca18det emmissions as all you are doing is using a ca16de block 1989 model which is the same year anyway that the cadet is from. Also last I checked theres a ca16de at both pick a parts which you can get the bottom end for 80 bucks from the 88 and 89 exa.

so much confusion.

Is there anywhere we can get the songle up to date answer for victorian certification rules?

there have been so many threads on DET's ... it is heart wrenching when people put so much care and attention into their builds to find out that the rules are not what they originally thought.

when you're asking Vic roads and get clarification can you get the official Tare weights of each model please and weather the ute is considered a commercial vehicle (even if it wont be registered with commercial - business)

the changes in july this year were to do with later model cars not early 70s models

should be exactly the same as my car, i asked the engineer about the changes specifically, my first inspection was over a year ago, and my final inspection was after july 31st this year, and mine isn't completely signed off but he said all is good just need noise and weight... so in principle it's fine

doesn't make sense at all

i have a good compression DE that may be of use to you pigdog? perhaps worst case you can engineer with that then change engine number to your other

so after reading the guidelines i feel that i can argue this and possibly bend him over on engineering yours and not mine. so if you can hurry up that would be awesome

this is from section 2.13.1 of the VSi 14 regarding engines

"The mass of the vehicle referred to in Tables LA1, LA2 and LA3 is the original (unmodified) tare mass of the model vehicle fitted with the largest engine available for the model in Australia but without optional accessories (air conditioning, tow bars etc.). The mass of the vehicle, whether it is a sedan, station wagon, utility, etc., should be based on the heaviest sedan version of the model (not station wagon version) sold in Australia."

therefore the body type does not matter, simply the model of car. so the same engines are engineerable for every 1200 regardless of sedan, coupe, wagon ect.

speaking to another engineer thats in geelong after work about it to see his thoughts. he didnt seem to think the fuel thing was correct

so yeah micheal, hurry up coz i would really like to use yours as an example of him engineering it so therefore is possible

funnily enough he just emailed and asked if he could finish it off Saturday

so barring major disaster (or decent rain) it will be done Saturday
