Heavy Breather!! (cross posted from 1000.com)

I'm just about over having my cabin fill with smoke from oil hitting the exhaust manifold, creating a smokescreen AND periodically cleaning the little aftermarket filter on top of the rocker cover!
Why is my A12 breathing so much oil? I'm constantly told that "Dats Life" but surely it's not merely an A-series trait, or is it? I do have a dump pipe I can fit ("J" hose required though), but I'd prefer not to... if there is a solution. Is there any way I can stop my donk from breathing so heavily, or do I have no alternative but to live with either cleaning the filter or dumping oil onto the road? Your expert advice is appreciated guys.

hey mate,
have you identified where the oil leak is coming from?

It's coming from the breather outlet on top of the rocker cover. At first I did think it was the rocker cover gasket, but the oily film on the cover below the outlet (where the aftermarket filter is mounted) eliminated that possibility.

hopefully some more experienced forum members will offer better info
Is the car also using alot of coolant? as it might be headgasket or cracked cylinder head maybe take car to mechanic to definately eliminate an engine problem slowly brewing up. cheers

No, luckily!
I should mention that it's not pouring #OOPS#loads, there's barely a noticeable drop missing from my regular check of the sump level. But there is just enough to burn on the ex. manifold, causing a blue haze behind me and warrant me at least cracking open windows.

It could be the head gasket though, maybe between one of the exhaust vales and an oil jacket.
Mind you, I hope it ain't that serious!

I've never had one breath that hard
So I'd say it might be an issue with your engine or that filter

Sounds like your motor has excessive blow-by caused by worn piston rings

It's not the rings, as the oil isn't burning in the combustion chamber. Which I guess eliminates my gasket theory.
