Hi guys..iv'e almost got al the parts(gx head, twins, wildcat branch, still looking for cam) for my A14 twin weber project and was just wondering how the fuel consumption would be..at the moment I get 'bout 400km on a full tank with the stock carb..

I have an A15 reground cam to a Wade 140, pretty lumpy cam. Haveproper specs on a printout from wade cams. Let me know if you're keen.
I wouldn't expect anything economical from the carbs...

if you want to beat your friends 2 liter golfs then forget about economy on webers and start thinking boost and efi.

a 1400cc engine shouldnt be that bad on fuel worked or stock.yes if u drove around full throttle everywhere its going burn fuel but if its well tuned and u drive it normally it be fine,it all in the tune mate a14 and webbers is a must u will never look back
nice cam is needed for it all to work but.

You'll get better than half the 400km/tank. If you drive it light on the throttle and keep speeds below 100kph, and tune the carburetors carefully you could probably get 3/4 of stock fuel economy.

Depends on the camshaft and tune but to beat a 80kg heavier golf mk1 with a 2L youll need a fair bit of poke and best go for A15 crank and bigger bores at least closer to 1600cc.
Depends where you are but a place I go to are able to use e15et conrods on offset ground A15 crank using custom cast pistons for 84mm stroke and 82.5mm bores on sleeved A14 /a15 block. 1796cc yet at the end of the day supercharged A15 is better.

Why are you trying to beat 2 liter golfs D? Am I missing something :S
Also D, what crank would you use to stroke and A15??

In another thread thats what his mates has he wants to beat.
A15 crankpins offset ground for the extra 2mm stroke There are pistons off the shelve late thumper dirtbikes but will end up costing $400-450 anyways to buy 4 slugs so best get some high silicone ones cast with modern casting tech from CP or Arias they makes some awesome cast pistons that challenge forgies 4 cost/performance. Autospeed article somewhere about budget custom cast slugs. Sleeving the block is 100-120 each sleeve to suit slugs you supply first from footscray engine reco services. They will just use Loctite to seal the bottom or send it away for grouting if need be but loctite is ample. 1800cc, supercharger, water inj and 2 inch SU would be nice with some serious pipes & 38mm in/33ex valved H89 ported head. Few boxes would handle the power though bar a 63a or 71 series.
