Found Swift Turbo at the wreckers yesterday.

Would it be a good size for an A12?

swift firefly g10 3 cyl engine turbo is too small im afraid
and for the price of turbos you best buy a new chinese one
these days as the quality has improved dramatically.

What terms do I use to search for a $100 turbo?

prob be good for 4-5psi which would make a beautiful street cruiser

but that looks dissasembled anyway

i agree with D, go for something in good condition, rebuilds are $500 plus, new or second hand turbos in working order are $100

In ebay search for "t2", "t25", or "t28". Then if you go to used items and local only it thins out the 10,000 search returns to something a lot more reasonable.

I dunno what their prices are like these days, but if the turbo hasn't worn the bush bearings (assuming you aren't going to find a $100 ball bearing centred turbo!) - what people used to do on the blowthruturbo mailing list (now called carbureted blowers and dead for over a year, a few random posts here and there but mostly dead) was go to 'www.turbocity.com' - which were somewhere in the USA iirc, and buy their turbo rebuild kits for about $100. Perhaps double that to account for inflation (the mailing list was in its hey day in the late 90s or thereabouts). As long as the bushes haven't worn a groove on the shaft, AND the wheels haven't scraped the housings, then you can dismantle (mark it first, or photo it or whatever) and then re-assemble and as long as you align the wheels as they were before, the balance won't be affected. Guys were doing this for cars running in the 10s down the 1/4
