Mine also has the bw78, 300mm discs(which weigh more than my wheels) and the 71c which would have some extra weight over your stumpy box. And the wagon is about 40kg heavier than a coupe i think.

So i can see where the extra 60kg is in mine over yours

Why are the utes heavier than the rest?
From all the extra weight Iv put in mine il have a really car comparative.
-hilux brakes.
-coil over front end
-4 bar / watts link rear
-16s
-dynamat threw the whole interia
-cooler,piping and all the bull $hit that goes with a ca conversion

On a plus side I have sand blasted 5 layers or paint from the tray and 3 from under the car!
Il be interested in seeing what the total weigh comes to. Hope it's near the 900kg mark but not shore now.

Utes are usually heavier cos there stronger to carry more weight than a standard car. Its pretty simple more steel means more weight. Its more than likely in the chassie

sort of true but the the glass is a big thing too, hence the wagon being heavier, the utes have a lot less glass than any other varient

im sure the tare weight of the ute is officially different, but i thought it was lower not higher?

I not sure im probably wrong thats normal. im just going from experience with falcons and such. but if im right that could be a valid explanation. or maybe the utes are heavier cos their actually used so when ppl weigh them they forget its loaded with stuff like the esky and booze. ( im not saying ute owners are drunks btw but you could be lol )
oh and wagons would use the same platform as the utes so yes they should be heavier for that reason too.

Maybe depends on the model of the ute? or its got heaps of bog, tar or strengthened at some stage in the rails or somewhere else but Im puzzled also why the ute is that heavy when they are about 715kg original.

That would mean my 1000 poor mans model at 625kg from factory
add 128kg for donk, gbox 40kg, H150 diff 2kg more? total = 170kg - 95kg A10 & 15kg box = 170 - 110kg + 625kg= 735kg or 747kg turbo.

if 715kg is right for stock 1200 ute + 110kg ca18de running gear should be = 825kg

more with beefier diff give or take 30-40kg

all give or take 15-20kg depending on radiator/battery choices.

the factory weights are not a good starting point for real figures though, as they are often way off to start with

I did ask the guy if the weight was with me in the ute!

but alas no - 980kgs ... no esky, no short fat guy in the drivers seat, no beer, no spare tyre,

just the ute - CA18DE with Auto box, stanza struts, bluebird rear brakes, maddat sway bar, ally radiator and auto oil cooler, thermo fan, silvia wiring loom, honda prelude seats, rollbar (in tray), towbar, TRX wheels, custom crossmembers.

there's hardly any bog in it, but a fair bit of paint has been applied and sanded back.

No spare..... And only.3/4 tank? guess my Lpg tank does add a fair bit

LPG tank balances the rear up a bit usually.

I still cant believe 980 for a 1200 ute with ca18de, maybe your model is a 4mm thick all round metal tank rather than 1.6mm :)

On a similar subject I wonder if we can get the weights that vicroads has for these cars based on the deluxe model sedan?

Just looking at the new laws it seems you need to engineer anything thats not the original capacity of the original motor.
