A decent set of performance pads for std 1200 brakes

Looking at putting the ol' 1200 ute on the track for #OOPS#s and gigs and am thinking I'm going to need a decent set of pads. The std pads fade out after about 3 good stops.
I'm hopping to minimise brake fade a bit just for a track day or two before i upgrade to set of stanza struts or something of the kind.
What pads are on the market nowadays and how much?

Anything decent won't be made in your shape...and if you cut something to fit don't expect the rotors to last long

What shape are your pads ?
You might be able to buy something decent in DB625 Torana pads and cut to suit


Oh and direct some ducts to the caliper to attempt to cool what you do have ... better than nothing

Here's a cheap and fun way to cool your brakes (that will no doubt rile a few others). Misters in the cooling ducts, or even simpler squirt some water on the discs, the trick will be to get the right amount (flow rate) and to only hit them when they're hot so they don't actually get wet and just boil some water off.

If you're good with a calculator you can estimate how much water

Each litre of water will soak up 2.14MJ when it vapourises
The heat generated by your brakes will be 0.5x(vehicle mass kg)(Vf^2-Vs^2 kmh)x(1/3.6)^2
where Vf is the speed when you start breaking (fast speed) and Vs is the speed when you stop breaking (slow speed)

You can then figure out how much water to squirt on the brakes during your stopping procedure and then halve it to make sure you don't gettem wet.

Not much good left for stanza brake pads now. get twin pot sumitomo calipers. Heaps of pad choices.

god damn lamb i just wanted a couple better pads O.O^^ lmao.
srsly though, sounds good, perhaps i should look into some better cooling, projected cooling...
sucks theres no pads i can just throw in, if i were to eventuate into stanza struts i wouldnt have a clue which way to go brake wise yet. i would want to go something that i can still fit 13's under. perhaps some era of pulsar brakes??
think i read in here that early stanza struts are pretty much a direct bolt in job with a few other stanza bits...

For stock 1200 brakes, try Endless or Akebono track pads.

For drum brakes, get them relined at a custom brake shop, using the latest racing facings.

qfm should be able to do a set in hp-x which is about the equivalent of the old bendix metal kings, or in a1rm compound, which is not too shabby. I have the former in the 1200 coupe right now, they are certainly better than stock, I haven't pushed them to fade during normal heavy braking, but i haven't tried to do repeat hard stops to see how long it takes to fade either.

I reckon they'd be ok for a streeter but would still get to fade conditions on a track - the discs are just too small diameter/too thin and the amount of heat generated would be too much in a short time.
