ive had my ute up to approx 190. the clock goes to 165 and it wound right off and still wanted to keep going. its powered by an a14 with twin su carbies, 2 inch exhaust and a 5-speed a-series gearbox.

My ute is good for 160 and it is still stock, mind you thats ringing its neck. And you get some strange looks from falcons etc that are doing 130-140 and you go around them. It's what I call the WOW factor.

I got 155-160 out of my A12 with auto and i wound it off the clock with my A14 with 4spd and i guestimated it being about 175kmh

Got my old stock a12 to (12 inch rims) 140kph...

wasnt game enough to go any further didnt exactly feel real safe not in stock form anyway

i had my old 1200 sedan with A14 cam extractors/exhaust carby off the clock right down in the dash so i couldn't even the needle in 4th gear at about 7200rpm. i probably wouldn't do it again becoz i have grown up since then (i think)

My old 1200 coupe could do 6000 rpms in forth. One day I held it there for a long time indeed. Later on the same trip , I went down a long downhill straight I had the needle pointing straight down. It was valve bouncing its nuts off.

the thrashability and simplicity of the aseries is what makes it fun

i heard of a guy once....

he had an a15 back round to just before it hits the stop pin at 0, and this was just down a main street between intersections, but inaccuricies in his speedo would suggest this was about 180km/h

apparently he has turbo now so maybe he can bend the needle around the stop pin

i had the nedle on the bar graph type speedo in my 1200 sedan pointing at the right hand blinker. one morning on the way to tafe. On the pacific highway around catrine hil bay for anyone around the newcastle- central coast area

A question. Would larger rims put out your speedo by it reporting a greater speed than actual? and also, what does a pretty much stock A15 in a 1200 get up to with a 4speed? and how much more would you get out of an A12 with a sunny 5speed (i know its been discussed many a time before)
