you can make your panels out of fibre glass....use the originals as moulds...cover them in cling wrap and start layin on the fibre glass. Because u take a moulding off the originals you get any bends or twists that were in them too....once u have built up sufficient thickness of glass to suit your needs, sand em, cover in flowcoat, paint. Job done
Sounds easy, but it is a lot of mucking around....i know, its how im making some kick panels.....make sure u get a breather mask too, this stuff pongs!

Mikali, I haven't got any speakers in the front at all at the moment, just the crappy boot ones. I'll do as you suggested and get some decent front 6" speakers and mount them in some risers in the front kick panels.

I wont bother putting the speakers back into the boot once the new panels fit. I'm reluctant to fit a sub because i dont want to cut or drill any metal to fit the box in the boot.

Sorry about that James, i thought you had some speakers at the front. Try and use some masonite board or thin mdf you dont need to bend the board to fit the front kick panels. If you havent got any, making some up isnt that hard. But speakers definately in the kick panels for a starter.

Im not real into bass anymore, so i wouldnt recommend a sub. Youd be surprised how much bass you can get out of splits of the quality of GS i think theyre called and Boston accoustics top of the line splits. All you need is a good clarity 2 channel amp and the pair in the kick panel and it will sound like you have a sub in the car when u tune it properly. Some people get discouraged though, my adive is keep turning the dials on the EQ ull find it for sure if your gear is top notch.

Cheers and good luck mate.

before I saw the light and bought my b120 ute I owned a '74 Chrysler galant wagon and in it I bought an electronics box (for small componentry from dick smiths) cut a hole through the front and back of it to suit my head unit mounting slide and then bolted the whole box up underneath the glovebox, which worked quite well and was quite easy to reach, in there I had a set of 3 way 6" kenwoods in the front doors , a set of 6x9" in the rear doors and a box bolted to the floor behind the rear seat with two 10" subs and an amp and it sounded pretty sweet now in my ute I have replaced the original speakers with my kenwood 3 ways and have installed some JBL 6x9" in the doors on mounts so they don't stick to far into the door ( mounts came from supercheap auto) and It's only occasionally that I miss the subs
