have got a a12, was told it was rebuilt for hill climbs, revs t0 7000 and cam kicks in at 3000, strong midrange to 6500 then tapers a bit in 4th to 6800, shitty gearing but at least
its like a old version of rev cut out in 4th.

Well if it's an A12, and you have it wired up right then it should work, maybe the tacho is cooked? My original A12 with standard carby/exhaust used to rev to 6600 in
4th until valve bounce limited the revs. To achieve such feats you must be displaying your P plates and be under 18.. :)

Come on Chris. Even I like to rev the old girl passed the 8000 mark occasionally and yet I am not a P plater or under 18. Admittedly it isn't anywhere near
a standard A15.
Everybody likes to have fun and explore the limits of there pride and joy.

You are right. But doing redline in 4th or 5th..
Is not good for your license. I totally agree with having fun in your car, otherwise the work is wasted. We've all heard about 11,000 revs down Conrod straight in the 70's
Bathurst racing 1200 A12 coupes. The ol' donks are tough.

I could probably make you some up, using some old 4inch gal-plated drain pipe. It will have high performance flow. Although beware of the hot bits of zinc that may fly out the back
of your tailpipe.

Actually while we are on the subject I'm looking for any rubber straps (that tie to the back of the car and rub against the ground)..any at all. I've always wanted to collect them. I
find them very attractive, especially the ones that have reflectors on them.

I don't know, it was before my time. I've only been into dattos for the past 12 years or so.
I'm sure someone on the board here would have some idea.
I guess just a real good blueprint / balance and some tough valve springs. I'd be cool to see 1200 racing. It's just another thing I'd do if I only had
a time machine....
