Got an extra day off due to the floods so I decided to make my battery cradle. I still need to weld some gussets on the sides of the cradle and make some backing plates to go on the bolts inside the vehicle to strengthen them up. It sits nicely were the origional fuel tank was now. Next job is to sort out the hand brake cables/setup.

Hay BradsDatto, I am in Ipswich so I am guessing the offer of help may be out now but thanks anyways... This is my first datto and 4 cylinder so its a bit different for me but its heeps of fun playing with such small cars, everything is light and easy. When you get your third project you'll have to start a thread in the project builds.

Done a tad more to the battery cradle by adding the side gussets. Next step is to measure up the hand brake bracket and weld it on.

Once I have finished with the battery cradle and handbrake I might fit this setup into the engine bay... ...SOMEWHERE?????????

The first pic is my complete set up minus the 2x5in cooling fans. Second and third pic are of the oil filter landing I modified. I spent a few months surfing forums, ebay and calling wreaking yards and could not find non oilcooler set up so I finally cracked it. I pressed a piece of 5mm alloy plate into a dome shape, for a little better oil flow with-in the housing and a mate TIG welded it up. Didnt turn out too bad but TIGing the cast alloy housing was a pain.

Nice work mate.

Have you fitted your billet fuel rail yet? I ended up getting one but I need to shorten the spacers, just seeing if you had the same issue.

Havent fitted the fuel rail yet, once I finish the oilcooler setup I can attach the intake and start plumbing the fuel lines.

What injectors you running? maybe there is some height variences with different injectors, I am running ID1000's.

Might get to in within the next month... HOPEFULLY :)

I have ID2000's, only need to take a couple of mm off the shorter set of spacers.
