hey just wandering if anyone knows of an battery acid resistant glue epoxy as i made a stupid mistake of forgetting to clamp my battery down before a test drive and battery fell on alternator fan making it leak.

its was quite an expensive battery so would like to repair the leak so if you know of any product let me know

Get a 2nd hand lead matt sealed battery. I got one and no looking back.

I we likely trust dealing it with epoxy after seeing damage it does by falling into alt. Wurzel....

Depending on how big the crack is. Maybe it's already stuffed and cracked a cell. you,ve probably lost a bit of acid out of it, so it wont hold a charge. even if you top it up with water.If its a tiny crack ive heard people plastic welding it, bout that sound desperate and dangerous to me ... Get a new one and dont forget to clamp it .

There's a place in Campbellfield sells,lead matt batteries but a kind member here sent me one from his farm. Common in elec wheel chairs and golf carts. I drive once a fortnight maybe always has charge, old lead battery struggled but just started.

ah yer is it powerful enough to plug cd players and amplifiers to them? do you know the shops name?

Last summer I had just bought a brand new deep cycle Interstate battery for my boat. My kid was carrying it to the dock and accidently dropped it on the sidewalk in its plastic battery box. He didn't tell me. I soon found out. Small crack. Battery was no good. I had to trade the core in for a new one.
I wouldn't recommend plastic welding a battery either but here's a easy tip on plastic welding.
I used a hand torch and black zip ties to plastic weld stuff together. It works like stick welding. Heat your material up and feed and drip the zip tie. The piece your welding and the zip tie doesn't have to be the same type of plastic, just somewhat similar.
Now with this new info, I still recommend not repairing the battery.

yea there's not any epoxy you can buy off the shelf that'll fix that, it has to be a special type of plastic im pretty sure

Just use a urethane selant like Sikaflex to repair it. put the battery on its side with the cut to the top(empty acid into glass or plastic container if its not sealed. Rough up the area around the cut with course sand paper and urethane another patch of plastic over the top of it. Give it 12 hours to cure before righting the battery(and refilling it if required).

A tube of sikaflex will cost $15 to $20(caulking gun type).

Its worked for me before and can look neat.
