hey guys,

well to start of this is my first datsun ive owned soo any help at all would be good, ie: parts suppliers near brissie and other useful people..

well this is the first car i have owned.

anyway to the details, it is a Datsun 120Y 4 Door Sedan, A12 engine, 4 speed auto, good interior, no major dints, having the small ones takin out before i get it...

engine is in sweet condition, runs smooth as a baby's bottom, no smoke, starts first go, tyres are stock, same as everything else....

in my course of this project gonna strip it down, get a paint job, new tyres, wanna get a CA18DETT engine but probably cant afford it now

(anyone know price for an alright CA18DETT or DET)

maybe a sunny 5 speed manual, (any suggestions here for others) gonna get a new diff, dunno what yet, thinking a 4.1 ratio but we will have to see.

umm, gonna try and get so9me body kit parts if i can find any...

and just make it live up to the datsun reputation

i will take lots of photos once i get it on tuesday 4th

Prices i paid to get it: all in $AU
car it self was $350
$70 for 4 near new tyres (spares)
$35 for a battery
$123 for the rear left brake as the cyclinder had exploded o_0 and the line was ####ed

$80 for a road-worthy
$around 350 for rego

gonna get it on the road as i hate drivin my mums car to TAFE >_< but i will be doing as much work as i can while still leaving it running for work an tafe

most of the major work will be done on the holidays soo i wanna get it all lined up to keep me busy...

P.S. if i can get a hold of a CA18 does any one know a good company or person in Brissie to install Methanol Injection into it, i have most of the parts and Methanol... its coming out of my dads VL

sounds good but there is no such thing as a CA18dett unless you turn it twin turbo yourself. I just got my CA18det for $1000 from EKW in Melbourne Even with freight cost it was still cheaper than any sydney importers who where all asking $1300.

Hey drewboi,do not think that the sedan is not cool, I have seen sedans with nice suspension, in fact, a friend of mine in Miami has a 4 door sedan, lowered 2.5 inches on 13X8's and it looks mean and nice, 120Y's are strange creatures, they only show off when lowered, you do not know what you got untill you see it in road suspension.I have a coupe, but I like the rear tail area in the sedan, it is cool, drop it, and see.
Also, a 120Y with a fast motor is excelent, nothing beats the feeling of having others on the road look in wonder at the car that just seems too fast! that will be you, in the 120Y,1200 and 120Y's are my favorite Datsuns, later come the 610 and 710. But still, you could see 610's and 710's all fixed up, racing and so forth, but 120Y 's are so underrated that a fast one is a statement in itself.
