Hi Guys

Yesterday i found My B310 was not pulling properly, engine hesitates felt like an ignition issue, Pulled the Distributor cap and rotar and found rotar had some black burn marks,
Sanded it and cleaned the rotor, cleaned the plugs and plug wires and distributor cap and contact point too and also re gapped them according to the B310 Manual

Spark Plugs 0.8-0.9 MM
Contact Point 0.45-o.55 MM
and installed them and started the car with choke fully closed position, it ran little better than yesterday but when the engine got hot it started to backfire horribly,
Checked the choke it was open completely
checked the carb float level it was perfect

what could be the issue ,is backfiring because contact point too low or too far ?
Check these Spark Plugs too
thanks
regards
sumith

Spark plug gap and wear OK. The look black from running rich (misfiring perhaps).

The plug with broken tip should be replaced.

hey sumith

Just a few suggestions.check your ignition timing is set right. Remember to clamp vaccum hose while setting ignition timing and idle.I would advise you to change your points and condenser while at it.Make sure none of the coil leads are loose.Sometimes, due to old age some don't work/conduct as well so better if you could replace your leads.

also observe your temperature gauge and test/confirm if thermostat is working properly.Replace if found faulty

hopefully you solve the issue

Start by replacing those spark plugs. It appears that the porcilin is dammaged which will cause misfires. They can't be that expensive. Next make sure that your points are properly set, this is best done with a dwell meter if you can, if not gap them at the proper setting. Then AFTER you set the points, set the timing, as the timing will change as the point gap changes. If one side of the points is pitted, and the other has a bump, change the condenser, a bad condenser can cause a misfire. Better yet, just replace them both, that way you know for sure, again, they can't be that expensive. Next look at the fuel filter and check for water in your gas, this would cause the apperent rich condition (black plugs) and a misfire at the same time. Check the float level, too low and it starves for fuel and misfires, too high it floods and misfires. Another thing to look at is the valve clearances, if they are too tight, it will cause the valves to remain slightly open and misfire, this is most common on exhaust valves. As you can see there are a lot of simple things that could cause a misfire.

Hi Guys

Thanks for ideas, i sorted out the issues, very first problem was one plug wire since i checked them last night i found one of them were having small yellow color spark compared to others, so i had a extra plug wire set that i bought for my b210 so i put them and checked yet it did not have enough power so then went to the spark plugs and found the spark plug which had bad plug wire is not working , so thought of changing one plug i replaced them all ,
i have good contact point and also new air, oil, fuel filter too

car is fine back to normal, ready to up country journey

something to be verified further my air fuel mixture screw goes in almost 90% down to adjust it to normal condition,it it normal or am i using a incorrect size ?

thanks

Sumith needs to write a book on his many datsun problems he has suffered over the years.
It would be a long book with interesting tales.
