My newly built A14 can't seem to keep the fluid inside! Seems to be leaking from both the front of the transmission (60A 5 speed), and the back of the engine. Both are leaking out of the bell housing. The motor has been out twice now for inspection and nothing looks wrong! Ideas anyone?

most likely the crank seal or the rear rubber gasket for the sump pan

hard to say without looking at it though

It's the rear main seal, but it's brand new and it looks fine......

did you drift it in enough?

I have to mine soon I think too.

At least you weren't talking about nige and his leaky pooper valve. I tried to plug the leak but he just builds too much pressure

Did get a chance to compare the old seal you took out with the one you put in?
I always make it a habit to measure them as I have received incorrect new ones.

I did not measure it, but it came in a Fel-Pro lower end kit so I'd assume it's correct. The end of the crank wasn't scored or beat up so I don't think I measured it either since it looked smooth and original, but maybe it's somehow undersized? I have a thin wall repair sleeve for it which I might try next. The Transmission is the same situation except I'm sure that the seal is correct. The Input shaft must somehow be undersized. Either way, it's got to come out again (for the third time!) so I guess I'll measure these items again.
I wonder though, can the case and tranny somehow be pressurizing? They don't leak while just running though, only after a drive.

Did you seal right in the corner of the rear main cap where it sits in the block. It comes to chamfered edge. oil can exit from there.

Yep, sealed that up... At the last removal you could see that it was coming from the seal area. It just doesn't make any sense. The trans is leaking more. I'm not talking about a small leak here, after a drive out to the racetrack, when I stopped for breakfast it dropped more than half a quart of 'fluid' on the ground. I used red engine oil and gold trans oil so I could tell the difference, but after a few hundred miles it's all kind of all brown so hard to tell where the bulk is coming from.... I got some UV dye so I can diagnose where exactly it's coming from.
