Ok so I have started rust repairs.

Until Sunday I had never picked up a welder or done any metal work. I went down to the metal shop bought a stack of thin sheet metal and practiced a few but joins and welds. I'm borrowing a mates flux core mig which I know is no where near as good as a gas mig but I dont have access to that...

I decided to have a go at the floor pan first as its flat and hidden away should I make a mess. I chose a small little hole to start with.

here is my first repair:

hole cut out:

patch created and mocked up:

welded in:

I have now done other larger areas, they arent that pretty but they are strong and better than the fiberglass the previous owner put there...
Nothing on some of the work I have seen the other members do, but I feel happy that there is metal at my feet now :D

I'll put more pics up once I have finished...

Nice work mate, just remember not to overheat and warp the panel that you are welding cause its easy to do.
Let me know if you need some help (no expert).

Ok guys so Levey and I got stuck into rust repairs today, starting with the boot lip.

Big thanks to Nige (Levey) for coming around and giving me a hand...

Start off, No boot lip:

This section was cut out of a donor sedan and clamped up:

welded in:

The donor car is very rusty and as you can see there are sections of that lip which damaged.
All in all though I'm very happy with it!

Nice work mate, I've done the exact same to my 2 door , although I haven't finished welding in the boot lip yet, your floors are a lot better than mine I had to replace the whole front section, is there much other rust on the car
