Obviously a 240z shock is what's needed but you could space under shorter shocks for shorter travel shocks.
300zx are shorter as we discussed. Just depends if you want to space them up.
Gas will get you by til $ allow. I used 240z Gabriel with 195lb springs. They would cope with 250lb til $$$ allowed. They wont be koni but just as Crap as Monroe or pedders.
Ac delco ok too for budget shocks as couple years.

Kyb gas are a great street shock and well priced. Search eBay US for them. They are typically non adjustable though

240Z (2.0") inserts won't fit into 1200 struts (45 mm).

I have a question, are these the type of Koni's that you need to fully compress and then spin to adjust the damping? Is so it's possible you've inadvertently made them full soft.

Yeah the kyb are about $200 plus shiping the pair. Not recommended for lowered cars, ,thats why mighy be better with some shorter stroke ones and space them in the tube.
Dd they are into shortened 200b struts
Tom yeah they were but the seals are stuffed now.

Tokico is another great brand to look at. Prodra-G's if you can find them. gas sport are nearly as good and suitable for a streeter. Prodra-G are a non gas type. Give Yoahoo auction japan a look.

I fitted some Prodra G's to the rear of my sedan a couple of years ago, the performance is awesome.
