Have you checked that the fuel pump is adequately providing fuel to the carbie?

did you just clean the bowl? or the jets, emulation tubes and obviously the rest of the idle circuit? also if it happened after you filed up you would think there is probably more #OOPS# in the tank.

hi all, I took off the carb took out the secondary main jet and primary jet and blew compressed air through out no sign of water in fuel I took hose off held a container in front of hose plenty of petrol came through after all that, its idles better and when I rev it up it back fires through carb

I just had a prob like that and it turned out to be a fouled plug. Idled fine but misfired on acceleration. Cleaned and reset plugs ad all fine

checked all plug gaps and cleaned and checked points and timing that stop that stopped the back firing, now when it idles its up and down and blows blue smoke, I try to adjust carb to lean still change

Congrats on solving the backfiring problem.

Blowing blue smoke ... ensure the oil level is not overfull. Otherwise most likely the engine needs an overhaul.

Rings may not have bedded in correctly since the rebuild leading to excessive oil on the bores resulting in burning and blue smoke.

Valve stem seals usualy at idle or on take off. Rings usually at revs as far as I know
