Very interesting.
Why put the air box on the exhaust side. Cross flow head?
Would like to know what this thing puts out.

would be quicker, easier, cheaper and more powerful just to drop the whole mazda engine in. Plus you'd get a reliable and cheap 5spd.

Harry is correct, if you can do your own machine work it is one thing to do this but if you have start paying then it would get pricey fast. This is very cool but if your after more power there are simpler ways.
With all that said I really like it, I suspect that the power out put is similar to 1.6 Mazda 115-120 in stockish trim. There is a weight advantage as Miata motors are a bit porky around 100lbs more than an series.
Any way to find out exactly what was done to make it work? I'd love to know.

Just going off what race prepped Miata engines put out, I'd expect 200-220HP but keep in mind that will only go 10-12 hrs before needing rebuilds. I'd say 175HP for a N/A and streetable engine while that doesn't sound like much it's equal to a full race A14......keep in mind it's a guess on my part.

there is a turbo version of this Mazda engine would be a very nice setup,

I would like to congratulate this dude who has done it and sorted it out.
Seems its running an electric water pump, some other front pulley to run
the alternator, blocked the timing gear oiling for the belt unit and the
pushrod area most likely to avoid oil issues.

I would love something like this with carbs to show the corolla guys
that A series can rock even harder than a K series.

also the bp rwd head could be used in that case as the bp is 78mm bores, the rocker cover and inlet for the B6 is dope!http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mazda-miata-1 ... 15%26sd%3D251358742894%26

heres the turbo version big hp

and the narrow angle Z6/M head same stud pattern and is the nicest and also a very narrow sohc 16v and 12v version too!

Quote:
Z6/M 1.6 L (1598 cc, 105 hp) ZM-DE (78x83.6 mm) The ZM engine is also known as the Z6, it has an identical bore, yet slightly longer stroke than the ZL as well as a revised head with round intake and exhaust ports. It has exactly the same bore and stroke as the previous generation B6. The 1.5 L (1498 cc, 130 hp) ZL-VE and 1.6 L (1598 cc, 105 hp) ZM-DE are closely related engines with an equal bore (78mm) and share some major parts. The ZL has a stroke of 78.4 mm whilst the ZM has 83.6 mm.
