I measured the dual su carb setup:
the bottom of the aircleaner is 8" from its top the bottom of the aircleaner is 10" out from the engine the top of the aircleaner is 8" out from the engine the aircleaner extends about 2 inches above the oil fill cap the top of the su carbs are as high as the aircleaner top the aircleaner is 18 inches long but this includes a long snout. the aircleaner is about 2" thick (estimated)

Well Tom, as much as I hate to say this, I will probably have to pass on the 1200 shell. The general price was around $1200 and I can't swing that at this time. I was hoping for somewhere near the $800 mark.
The only other solution would be to take a bus out, rent a uhaul, stuff the shell in the back and drive it home :P

No worries, anything past $400 probably not be worth it. I'm just trying to avoid putting it in the crusher.
