I did the same as Crumb, but by accident. I had a really ugly useless car given me. While I was failing to come up with some use for it, the Air Force, not liking its looks on their base, towed it away. My friends and I stood silently smiling and watched it go, good riddance too.

You guys got ripped!
After pulling the L20, 5spd and wheels, struts and x-member out of a Bluebird I used as a donor for my 120Y project, a scrap metal place came and towed it away and paid me $80 :)

When it happened to me i had every intention of having it towed but when somebody puts a sticker on it saying they will take it for free who am i to argue. And it would have cost me more than $80 to get rid of the rubbish inside it as it was full to the roof with old tyres and batteries etc. :)

Councils have the legal right to remove unregistered vehicles cluttering road ways. If you have been spoken too about it, it would mean people have complained about it. The only recourse you have my friend is to move it. Re register it, or sell it.

Even if it is registered, some councils have bylaws that allow them to tow vehicles that do not move. Here in Maroondah it is 7 days without moving and they can tow and impound it..

"A person must not allow any vehicle currently registered with VicRoads or any other relevant body to be left standing continuously in any public place for a period in excess of seven consecutive days"
