Check that the auxiliary venturis are the right way in. If they are 180 degrees out, as is possible, or even turned slightly, that cylinder won't get fuel from idle to about half way & it'll be a dog. I've had this happen with 40dcoe's on the number 1 cylinder when the tiny locating spring fell out & the venturi turned. With 45dcoe's they're held in with small bolts, but not 40's. Sounds like that, though Mine would at least idle. Fitted the little spring & it was doing burnouts up the driveway effortlessly, where it wouldn't even turn the tyres.

I regret to say that i have already cheched that the venturies are in the correct position, ive phone a carburettor reworking company and according to them the idle channles are blocked, in witch case i have a 50% chance of uncloging them even with an acid bath, so going to try and clear them tonight

What was blocking the channel? Aluminum corrosion?

really hopng that the blocked idle ducts was the problem, the ducts from thebottom of the ilding jets to the emultion tubes were completely blocked by alu rust, can this problem really have such a massive impact on power?

1. Idle circuit should have no effect over 3000 rpm at full throttle.

2. If crud has blocked the idle passages, chances are good that other passages are blocked too. I would clean all the passages.

i will post some pics to show where the blackages were, it might have been possable that the carb over fueled at 1/4 to max throttle cos of the idle circuit being blocked, unlike the early dcoe's these have a duct from the emultion tube socket to the idle jet, this time i properly checked every single duct
