PRICE REDUCED $14,000 neg.

FOR SALE Datsun 1972 1200 Sedan, CA18DET, Brisbane, $19,500. Serious offers considered. Currently registered but selling unregistered.

It's a sad day but the time has come to sell the Datsun. I have owned the car for 9 years; it has been in the family for 12 years originally as a granny spec. Always garaged but rarely gets used any more. My brother and I have put lots of blood sweat and tears into this car and would like her to go to a good home. Very little to do for RWC.

Countless $$$$ spent over the years, mods include;
*CA18DET - engine has done less than 100,000kms, timing belt replaced <5,000kms
*Garret GT28 ball bearing S15 turbo
*Microtech MTX8 w/ hand set
*Malpassi fuel pressure regulator
*Dual Fuel pump setup
*Surge tank in the boot
*3 1/4 " Exhaust with twin dump pipe off turbo
*Custom intercooler & radiator w/ Davies Craig Thermo fan
*K&N pod filter
*Turbosmart BoV & Boost Tee
*Lightened flywheel
*Custom heavy duty clutch
*R30 manual gear box - reconditioned
*Custom tail shaft good for 400hp
*Stanza struts & front Discs
*Reverse eye leaf springs
*Shortened R31 LSD & rear disc brakes
*14" alloy mags with good tyres
*Autotecnica Monza Seats
*Isotta steering wheel
*Autometer Tacho & Boost gauges

There is probably more that I have missed but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Car has been built as a sleeper from a very clean original condition base. Interior including dash is in excellent condition. Carpet has been replaced. New seat belts.

Body is in good condition, a couple of small rust spots but nothing of concern. Panels and Chrome are straight and in great condition. Paint is in good condition, engine bay is in undercoat; I had planned on respraying.

Engineers Certificate and mod plate held for engine, g/box, seats, front callipers / rotors and fuel system (surge tank).

Little to do for RWC;
*Needs handbrake assembly (I have original set up just needs be modified)
*Needs engineers cert for diff & rear brakes / rotors.
*Shock absorbers
*Could use a tune up

Very fast and very clean car. You will not find a Datsun 1200 sedan in better condition than this! Thousands spent over the years. Car must be sold as I need the space for new toy. Serious offers will be considered.

Genuine buyers only, please do not waste my time!

I'll be taking more photos in next couple of days. Inbox me if you are interested.

Ladies & Gents,
This car must be sold!

My wife hates it because it scares the crap out of her and we need to get a second car (4WD) for pending population increase at home. Is there any interest and if so at what price?

I have done some research and anticipate work required for Safety Cert could be completed for $1,000 - $1,500 max. Shock absorbers, hand brake, Engineers cert for diff (quoted $200).

I have spend a lot of money on this car and realise that I will not get that back. Car last tuned by Motsons achieving over 200 rwhp on conservative boost. There is more power in it but decision was made to play it safe.

For anyone looking for a CA18DET powered 1200 sedan this one is 98% complete project and one tough little car.

I find it difficult to gauge what car is worth in the market and realise money spent does not equal MV. I have also struggled to find any comparable sales to base price off.

Any guidance / wisdom?

You can pretty much assume if you advertise anything at carsales prices it will not sell, most of the cars on there are getting to nearly a year advertised, you can get good deals on a rough ca18 one for $8000+, after that a real prestine one that is styled and modded the way the buyer would want maybe 15. Those are realistic sell prices though.

Maybe in a better economy you will get more, people advertising 25,000 for a stock neat car will never ever sell it.

Darren, Townie and 1200dat - thanks for the feedback. It is appreciated.

The reality is car needs to be sold so price is negotiable. I don't want to give her away but don't want to wait 12 months for a potential sale either.

Here are a couple of photos I took quickly this afternoon. If anyone is interested and wants to make a serious offer it will be considered.

Cheers,

Looks great, although I cannot see the work up close you can spot alot of stuff people leave out before selling the car, you are right that is a very close to complete good streeter.

10-15k id say, just my opinion.

it'd be more attractive if you complete the work needed for rwc.
anyone spending 10-15k on a datto is doing it for the convenience of not having to build it
so the fact that it needs a little work could deter a potential buyer

good luck
