It's all going that way whether we like it or not. Geneva was full of hybrids this year.

You are not factoring fuel to the pump theres no nonsense & no sense in trying without that data and its major BS comparison otherwise. The energy spent by making trucks and running them is more wasteful than our already established electricity infrastructure.

EVs come in many different flavours while my favorite is the Leaf atm for what it is I would prefer a merc prototypes using the Zebra salt batteries which are still possible. EVs make sense for those driving less than 60-70 kms per day which is most of the population.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014 ... taminates-aquifer-uranium

Actually its not funny or a lol moment for an industry that should be eliminated. To have our precious water poisoned by coal seam gas industry and support the Govs decision of a 1500aud fine is retarded.

Im an avid supporter of non lithium, copper and zinc batteries hence the reference to Zebra.
Salt is one of the most abundant things on this planet and just because it makes the battery a little heavier than lithium based ones its not to be underestimated if engineered properly in larger SUV and up vehicles. My other interests are thermal solar power, vertigro Algae and Midori Mushi based ethanol, I dont believe in what the Corporations have in stall for us and what they force our Govs to feed us with.

To solve our problems with the same type of thinking that created these problems will always end up with failure. Fossil juice is finite its time for a change whether we like it or not.

Sorry, must have confused you with the "well to wheel" jargon. It means all the emmissions for the fossil fuel lifycycle, from the oil well to the wheels driving down the road, inclusive. Any credible study or report compareing ICE and EVs factors that in, as did the one in my last post, which would have been clear if you even browsed hrough it just looking at the graphs...

if you actually read you'll find you favourite is the least green option. Hybrids are far greener given our electricity mix.

So we need extra cars for weekends, holidays etc etc?

those are the exact same links as your last post.

you obviously need help seeing the irony - CSG is used for ELECTRICTY GENERATION. You know, to power your favourite electric Nissan Leaf! If more people adopted electirc vehicles, we'd need even more capacity on the grid, which would mean more reliance on CSG and coal. The hippie energy alternatives simply aren't practical or economically viable.

The well to wheel does not cover many factors and are very general not taking into account the overall transport costs for Australian conditions, import and processing. Also does not cover servicing the transport, processing plants and other operational parts for refineries that are also subsidised in the running costs equation. Ive got family friends that work at the Altona refinery and the amount of people to hold that operation, peeps traveling from all over to work there and contractors its astounding that such a monopoly can get away with so much waste.

The leaf is the future providing mass production and better battery chemistry is possible using sustainable or environmentally conscious processes. I realise its far from perfect but there needs to be a shift or driving 1 litre diesel twin charged SUVs will be the norm.

The EV and converted EV are suitable as a second car or daily commuter, the battery tech is owned by big energy/oil so as a first car only things like the lear could replace the first car or even use rentals (ICE powered or hybrid) till the fuel prices make EVs viable.

For now they are a new and disadvantage by the oil industry yet I know of many that are charged off grid 2 here in Ceres Brunswick and a fleet in Chile from Hydro electicity plants. Its only a matter of time till "E" makes a big impact.

ICE vehicles are worse polluters than EVs in the final equation. Big Oil does not release all the data for the researchers to make a perfect non oil biased analysis.

Im not a supporter of any CSG project for E generation, I believe CNG gas like in East Timor enough to meet our needs and like all evils is the lesser of fuel mining in terms of enviromental pollution but there are always other companies looking for a piece of the energy pie which is out of our control unless we can divert some of the profits we make to a more sustainable existence without waiting for the Gov to do it.

Our current energy production based on fossil/nuclear fuel definitely needs to be decommissioned and a new economy/jobs industrial revolution can be seen with the adoption of wave, thermal solar and other sustainable energy production and especially thermal solar has no hippies employed in any part of the business just very clever people that see where the rest of the world is wrong and dont mind driving some EVs regardless of the controlled mass media brainwashing.

Good article theres even more in the pipeline but living in Kyoto for many years I realised the best mode of transport was the pushbike :) we could learn more from JPN for many things on where they go right and wrong for a better metropolis.

Meh worlds screwed. I only go off people ive talked to that design and work in auto industry. They would admit off the record that hybrids and ev are not friendly to manufacture.
Not even factoring in well to exhaust pipe costs. Especually as the litium batteries are produced and shipped over too.
No economically viable method of recycling them in aus to mu knowledge so eiyher stockpiled or shipped os for recycling or landfill.

End of day if we stopped making new cars we could just re manufacturer older ones with efficient drive trains.

Those are exactly the things it covers. The entire supply chain. Read that report. There's many others like it. You're just chanting a mantra, not being rational.

As for the rest of the tiraid - well, its just leftie hippie conspiracy theorist unsubstantiated nonsense. Deserves no response.

As for the recycling part.. Aust is a bit slow compared to other countries but we are learning slowly and on the other hand developing state of the art machines for scrapping. We have developed a tyre machine that turns tyres and other materials into FUEL and after 2 hrs of running this machine, it self powers itself by the excess gases it produces. Unfortunally our Goverment wants 30% of the business in exchange for the license, so it is on hold. Most of our plastic is sent to India BUT the Indian goverment has now stopped the importation of plastics tyres and other waste materials so we (Aust) have re-developed a new Plasma Furnace has been approved thats burns so hot, it even burns Carbon. China has made a killing in recycling over the years and have controlled 85% of the worlds scrap market. That is changing rapidly and watch their economy crash in the next few yrs. We as a country just have to learn or be more educated in the recycling side of things. Lithium Batterys are considered dangerous but cell phone batterys are sent to China and i'd say as the battery powered cars... if and when they get popular will be recycled. Our goverment has so many grants when it comes to recycling. If its green they'll usually back it.

That report from you Harry is utter Biased and skewed rubbish nothing legit just assumptions made by one sad redneck perhaps on the big oil payroll and trying to reach out to other rednecks as yourself. Its data is assumptions based from the propaganda kings of the world the UK government. The UK has heavy interest in Oil its one of the colonial leaders in dirty energy I guess that what you call credible then you have nothing to stand on but your lack of logic trusting the authorities that screw us deeper into a bunch of nanny states filled with zombies that trust the media for their substance in security and total existence.

"In this section we estimate the total emissions caused by using a grid powered electric car in 20 of the world’s leading countries. For clarity we focus only on full electric vehicles and use national average grid emissions. As such these results may not be representative of individual grids within a country. The key assumptions used in this section are that an electric vehicle has manufacturing emissions of 70 g CO2 e/km over its lifetime, and that its wall - to - wheels energy use is 211 Wh/km, or 34 kWh/100 miles, similar to a Nissan Leaf
. Data for international electricity emissions factors is for 2009, and sourced from DEFRA in the UK (DEFRA 2012)."

Like I said utter zombie redneck rubbish few can trust DEFRA a Banker controlled farce much like the Royal Family since the days of Napoleon defeat at Waterloo when Rothchilds took over the Bank of England and control of the Brittish Isles.
