Again, the consumer has the power to lower prices and it's not by complaining. The average person could start buying less gasoline. Instead they worry about image ("I can't drive a clown car") and a hundred other excuses. Instead of an 18mpg SUV, they could get a 22mpg midsize sedan. But they don't want to ... why did Honda stop selling the 58mpg Civic HF? Because the oil company forced them to? I don't think so. Demand is not there, people want bigger, heavier "what if" vehicles. The Civic has gone from 1640 pounds to 2800 pounds ....
