I have a 3 speed box in my car. does it have to have a oil cooler or can I just bypass it?

The smaller Datsuns seem to get away with no oil cooler. A Sunny I had ( still got it,to be honest) as an auto didn't have a cooler. Neither did the Datsun 1000 sedan with the column shift auto I tuned up for a friend of my Aunt, & it had an A12. If you thought it was necessary to fit a cooler you'd probably have to drill & tap the holes for the hose fittings in the trans body. I don't think a standard a series engine make enough power to cause the auto to overheat.
