wouldn't using EFI from a 75-76 Datto be "allowed"? In Aus, we didn't see any EFI Datsuns until the R30 Skyline of the early 80s. Twin sidedraughts will out perform a factory plenumn style EFI system anyway... Old school is about using modifications of the era. No question about it. If you think it means something else, that's simply because you don't know what it means... ...if you know what I mean...People misuse words all the time, eg "ignorant" is not the past participle used to describe someone who ignored you. If its got a twin cam multivalve engine from a completely different era, it simply isn't old school. As pro-240c said, old cars with classic styling and modern engines are known as 'retrotech'. They are a different style of car built by people using a different philosophy. It's great that they are sympathetic to the styling of the classic car they modify, but their completey different philosophy towards what they want from the powerplant is a massive departure from the old school philosophy, and should be recognised as a different thing. If you throw all that hi-tech EFi and computer junk off it and run carbs on the CA or SR that's cool, but it still ain't old school. When I line up on the track beside a SR20 powered 120Y with twin carbs, there's only one of us out there doing it the old school way...

I agree with that lot
![]() For a 1200..oldschool means pushrods. Except for L18_B110. I'm more of a "sleeper/retrotech" 1200 person ![]() I'm not right.. I'm just different....As are most Datsun owners. Chris

My thoughts are that old skool is working with technology produced within the years of the car. I have the upmost respect for the datsun enthusiast working with 1970's performance technology and turnng out a show stopper.
I hope one day to do this. As a Datsun enthusiast it is a road not yet travelled. Actually I have never driven a Datsun - except a 720 ute and being pushed in my 1200. So I better finish the CA 1200, experience that and then get into webbers, cams and the like. Yes I'm serious Jarrad

Well I still think that old school is what you make it. Here there are sooooooo many different idea's on what is or is not old school.
My very first car was a Datsun 1200, I got it when I was 16 and thats when my love affair started. It really comes down to what the person thinks weather others like it or not. Everyone has there view on what is or is not and to see all the different views on this tread is great!!! Because I think that it has changed my own view on what is old school and what is retro-tech. Now I am thinking that my 1200 will be come retro-tech, as I like that saying more and more!!! lol Blair

Now I thought Old School Datsun (or whatever else) is where you run the standard or around the era engine except it could be worked like cams an all. eg. Datsun 1200 Coupe with Twin Webered ported to the max, worked cams, beautiful paint, restored factory interior, lowered with polished old school 12 inch or 13 inch mags. mmmm sounds real nice well thats my view....
