What about fitting 1200 and 120Y?

Mebbe a top mount is the way to go

I have a 1200 and a 1000 here. If it fits them, it should fit a 120y easy enough. A top mount would not let us use the standard inlet manifold.

I think I have a solution... Back soon...

Righto.. This might sound a bit crazy... but if the turbo is mounted back to front, with the exhaust pointing forward, it should all fit without touching engine mounts. It will also clear LHD steering boxes.
A 180 degree bend will have to come off the exhaust housing and go between the engine mount and the sump. It's either this or make a totally new engine mount(including cutting off the welded mount on the cross member. Either way, the alternator will have to be a RH Mount.

I can make a simple manifold and mount the turbo the normal way. It would be low and rearward but this would prevent it from being used on LHD cars.

Sounds good!

How do we do a RH alternator on early A12? The distributor is in the way.

No turbo for them I suppose. Unless they want to design their own setup.

Oh ok i assumed that any expansion would be beneficial as all the air has to run through the turbo eventually anyway. Where as with a bay turbo any extra exapnsion after the turbo is wasted out the exhaust...

isnt the benefit of air expansion for a turbo; that more air/mass is filling up the exhaust pipe in (in a sense creating minor compression) and forcing its way through the turbine?

Would velocity loss be overcome by 'minor' compression from continued expansion?

Sorry if i make no sense this is a bit over my head.

Are most of the A12's in the US front dizzy types? There isn't may over here. I think they were only built for the first couple of years, the next 12 or so years they were the late type.

All B110 came with front-dizzy motors. Including AUS, USA,Japan. Only starting with 120Y and 1974 B120 did they change.

The Exhaust manifold material cost would be very similar regardless of what A12 it was going on. So the $1200 figure shouldn't change much.
As I don't have a LHD early a12 car here to ensure correct fitment, all I can do is make one fit what I have. Or I can make it fit all RHD A12 cars, but the engine mount will have to be changed and it probably wont fit LHD cars.

Do you have any other ideas?
