Nissan admits they aren't going to make the IDX, despite "overwhelmingly positive reception in Tokyo and Detroit".

That leaves others, including Toyota, Subaru, and Mazda, to keep making a small RWD performance vehicle.

Seems an odd thing to say since the 86 and BRZ are doing so well, and in the 90's we didn't seem to have any shortage of RWD coupes. The auto industry is maybe now too competitive for its own good.
