#1 B310 GBox Conversion Query
rallymaster Posted on: 2015/8/5 2:07
Gday,

I have a quick question for you guys!

I have a 60A 5spd gbox that I want to put into my B310. My 60A does NOT have a cross member and as far as I know the 4speed crossmember (which I do have) will not fit on the 60A gearbox. So what options do I have other than fabricating brand new cross member or buying a 60A cross member? Is there any way of making a thick plate that will bolt to the 60A and then to the 4speed cross member?

Thanks.
Any advise would be great.

Options other than buying or fabricating? Someone could give you a crossmember. Wreckers will have them.

The 60A crossmember is the same as the 4-speed, only it is raised up (doesn't have the dip-down built in). You should be able to use a 20 mm spacer between the insulator rubber and the 4spd/60L crossmember that you have now.

They both use the same insulator

1. 60L 5-speed / 4-speed crossmember
2. 60A 5-speed crossmember

Hi cheers for the speedy response
I in fact have this cross member and from what I've read the 60A 5speed will not fit this?? I don't have access to my gearbox at present so can't check for myself.

Ah yes, that's the A12 crossmember. Someone once said most B310 sunny wagons came with A14.

Other than fabricating a 56-to-60 crossmember like we do for 1200s, your options include buying one from the wreckers, or asking if a club member has an extra one for free. It's possible you move the 56 crossmember around (there are three sets of bolt holes under the car) and use a spacer and/or adapter plate of some kind, but I've never heard of anyone doing so.

If you are in Australia, I can donate a. 60A crossmember to the cause

Try & find a crossmember for a Sunny(B310) auto, which is pretty much identical to the 5 speed cross member. I use the Auto crossmember to put the larger 63A & stumpy 5 speeds behind L series motors. If you can get the 60 series 4 speed crossmember, it can be used with spacers & longer bolts between the crossmember & the floor. I found some very interesting spacers in R31 Skylines & Pintaras , they are C shaped, & are used to space down the gearbox. This is exactly what you want. With these you can start the bolt in before slipping the spacer washers in. Please fill in the location part of your profile so we can be a bit more specific with advise.
