g'day all I am only new to this site I am still learning slowly about Datsun 1200s I am currently restoring a 1200 ute when I purchased the car I just assumed it had a 1200 engine after pulling the engine out I discovered its a a14 is there any way I can determine which a14 engine I have while researching this engine there are different variants eg hp ratings any help would be much appreciated cheers bruce

There are two common A14 engine powers: 80 HP and 65 HP. The difference is the cylinder head and inlet manifold. Round inlet ports = 65 HP. Oval inlet ports = 80 HP.
Look for casting numbers on the inlet and exhaust manifold, such "H89" or "G15". You may also remove the rocker cover and look for casting numbers on the top of the cylinder head.
