ca18det_man and myself went down to the drags on Wednesday night. It was good fun. We did some 1/4 miles at Eastern creek. He did a best 12.5ish I think, whereas mine
settled at 15.0@93mph, Partly due 3 gears of wheel spin and an overexcited driver (me). We both got a fair bit of attention from datto lovers.

I thought you'd do a little better than 15.0 with a CA18DET. My dad ran 16's the only time we went to the strip. Although he had wheelspin, he achieved that time with a balanced A-14 (stock
comp/bore), Weber DGV, a header, and 2.25" exhaust. I think I would've run about the same as my dad, had I not busted a U-joint on the second launch. Does lowering the car and a roll bar
put more of a strain on the drivetrain when launching? Is there any advice to getting a good launch without destructing the drivetrain? Anyways, I'd sure like to race with some other old
Datsuns. Although I've had a 1200 for 5 years, I have NEVER gotten to race another Datsun! I tried to wave to and/or race the 510/Z/Roadster guys, but they never wave back, and never race
when I line up with them. I'd sure as heck like to whoop one of these ignorant so called Datsun owners!!!

Dattodude running low-mid 13's soon :)with new intecooler more boost and maybe some grippy tyres :) Can lend my 13" slicks if ya want. heheheh maybe next time we can race against
each other them officials where pretty cranky hey.

One day u will crack into the 11's. Didn't u just put a blow off valve on your CA18det?

Hey dattodude, you have a Z18t 510 right? Not a 1200? Thats if your the same dude i met last time at eastern creek. Im not sure?? Or is this another 1200 owner in Sydney?? Keep
racin and get them times lower

Yes Davo I have fitted a blow off valve to the CA18.HAs made it a lot quiter on gearchange great around town as bost between gears comes on a lot quicker dosnt seem to make that much
difference when giving it heaps.
Dattodude has a 1200 4 door with a CA18det the first person to do the conversion that I know of. He gave me a lot of tips for my conversion.
The guy with tyhe Z18 1600 was there again too he run a 14.6@98mph.
I tried some new taller slicks on my car but the rim was to narrow with low pressure I was getting too much wobble in rear end so I was backing off towards the end best run was 12.8@108.
with stock tyres I spun 3/4 track with a 14.0@112mph :) was good knowing I could get high mph just had lots of wheelspin 1st 2nd 3rd and a bit in 4th :) heheh. Ill get it sorted and
cracking 11's soon i hope

Indeed I am the same faded green 1200 driving brother of Jeff. Yeppo, If I can get my intercooler on, I'd like to go down again.
I've had a few offers of slicks for the night,
which would give me fewer excuses. I'm also keen to get the aftermarket computer on it. I think that's half my problem. Not many (none I've seen) people running CA18DETs
are running the original computer.
