Stumblebum if you have a 5 speed with a one to one 5th gear you could easily sell or trade it for a 60 series overdrive 5 speed. We racers are always look for direct drive gearboxes.

DD....Pulled an oilpan from a 1978 B210 (mid sump) and set it on the A15 block. Rotated the crankshaft and did not hear any contact with the oil pan. You advised I would need to knock it with a hammer for proper clearance....

That's great news - maybe B210 mid-sump pans all have the clearance. I see in the photo the top pan has bulges in the side.

Makes me a little uneasy to contradict the Tech Wiki information. I would like to hear from others if they have put an A14 mid sump pan on an A15 block.

DD....I am looking at a Delta cam similar to what another MG enthusiast did and that he posted on this thread. His cam is more that what the GX cam spec is (262° duration, .425 lift...A12GX-256°, .331 lift at cam). He is running with the H89 head which has smaller intake ports than the GX head. If I go with the same cam do you see any idling or tuning problems? Or would you recommend going with the GX spec grind?

It depends on high high you want to rev the engine. GX cam makes maximum HP at 6,400 RPM, if you shift at 5,000 RPM it will make less HP than the stock cam.
