#1 Alternator i brought from auto8 need wiring switched
datsunny79 Posted on: 2016/1/27 7:48
I have a 79 b310 sunny and i origanally had a hitachi alternator on and it has F N t terminal plug and A & E the new alternator has + thats a push in plug terminal.. D+ spade terminal B+ (that will be power from battery) & D- (that be earth) so i have B+ D- sorted its the D+ & + with a plug in terminal thats got me stuck?
I have been on google found a fourm on this site about changing wiring unplugging external regulator and doing a loop in the wiring? Before i cut my wiring up id like to get a 2nd opinion of what wires to do.. im guessing 1200s may be diffrent to sunnys?

What is A & E?

Anyways, it sounds like a Bosch Australia alternator
* B+ (power output to battery)
* D- (earth)
* D+ spade terminal - Dash Lamp, I think
* + with a plug in terminal - Testing only, I think

Open in new window

To wire this up:
* Unplug the existing voltage regulator
* The dash lamp is WR wire in the regulator harness, connect this lamp wire to D+ terminal of alternator

This is my original wiring.. the T terminal one was ignition power and other the feild terminal?
Thick white is 12v from battery
Thick black is earth
My new alternator doesnt have the T connection so where does the feild wire go?

Sorry im having trouble uploading a pic of the back of my alternator

The T-wiring will not be used on the Bosch alternator. It doesn't use those wires. There is no Field wire, because the field wire comes from the Regulator and the Bosch is internally regulated. The other T-wire for the FN type alternator is the Neutral Point. This also is for the regulator. So neither of those wires are used with internally-regulated alternators

So you can run a new wire from the Lamp wire in the harness over to the D+ terminal of the alternator

Or, you re-use one of the no-longer-used harness wires, for example the Y wire. cut off the Tee-connector and put a spade connector on the Y wire, then at the regulator end of the harness, connect the Y wire to the Lamp wire

You might want to double-check that D+ is supposed to be connected to the Dash Lamp

Glad to hear it. Did it work just connecting D+ to the dash lamp or was something more needed?
