i just got me a electronic distributor what is a good coil to go with this conversion?

is a high output msd coil a bad idea, would a stock skyline coil be better

You can buy a good quality Coil that fits straight into the old coil bracket. It looks exactly like your old coil but its to suit electronic dizzy. I got one when i fitted electronic dizzy to my A14 ute. Supacheap $60.

Stock Skyline electronic ignition coil will work, and is as powerful as an MSD Blaster 2

i have setup my electronic distributor what gap should i use, do i need a nigger alternator to support? i am running a 30amp

35A alternator has no problems with EI. 30A is a problem even with points ignition, meaning if the headlights, wipers and heater fan are all on it may not be charging fully

You can use the standard sparkplug gap of 0.035"/0.9mm. Whether you can use a larger gap depends on the type of EI distributor you have. What ya got installed?

got a new alternator running :). i just put in a push start instead of the key barrel, i can drive the car but i have no indicators.... any ideas why?

push start works too unless it is uphill


Indicators/Turn Signals (Flashers) work off the main Fuse Box fuse H marked 'HORN/STOP/HAZARD'

I would first check to see if there is 12V on both sides of the fuse
1. Turn ignition to ON
2. Pull Indicator lever to left side
3. Check the voltage

sorry its a button start with a relay not a push start i apologize, i think one of the wires burnt up under the dash that goes to the key barrel, seeming i have the toggle switch and button start

it has no accesorries and the battery doesnt charge any ideas? there was a wire that burnt up and i cant figure out where it goes you might know , mechanic from work said it was


EDITED :: i wired the BW wire to the negitive side of coil alternator is charging other stuff is still not working positive is on the toggle switch acc to the positive on coil am i doing something wrong?

The original ignition switch only has four wires, so it's not complicated at all

The most important thing is to make sure the IGN SWITCH (or your toggle switch) b/w wire feeds the Fuse Box, because almost everything works off the Fuse Box


WHITE: 12V in
B/W: IGN 12V out to Fuse Box
B/Y: STARTER 12V solenoid wire
B/R: COIL STARTER OVERRIDE


If there is an ACC wire, it should only feed the radio and OPTIONAL rear defroster, it should not feed the coil


None of these have anything to do with the indicators, which are fed by the Fuse Box


Coil Wiring:
* NEG goes to distributor
* POS goes to 1) resistor and IGN feed 2) to OVERRIDE wire

i run the BW wire to the neg of the coil and my alteernator started charging again, postive to toggleswitch-then out to positive of the coil?

not sure what the IGN feed and override wire are or go need more detail im sorry,

running alot better now tho
