I am going to use a KF Industires 70 cubic inch two lobe roots type blower. KF Industries was a company that went out of business years ago and someone bought the rights to it. I have no idea who is currently making them, but a friend of a friend is an outlet for them in the US.

In any case, there are no other parts available for it. You have to make everything! I started with the drive system for it. I decided to use a B11 Sentra [E16] timing belt and gears to drive it at 1.5 to 1 ratio [50% overdriven] for now. Mounted on the blower is an E16 jackshaft pulley. Next is a picture of the E16 cam belt pulley attached to the machined flat A15 crank pulley. It was located with dowel pins and attached with allen head screws, after the outer V-belt pulley was machined off. The center hole of the cam belt pulley had to be bored out as well, to allow the crank hub bolt access.

I plan to make my own blower intake and run a single side draft carburetor into the blower. I still have to make the idler pulley for the drive system. The blower itself is lubricated with the engine oil tapped from the oil pressure galley.

I'd sure like to see some pictures and/or get a description of A14force's blower setup. Does anyone know what he's using?

A14fORCE is using a Toyota SC14 from the 1G-GZE motor, it's a self lubricated, two lobe rootes blower also, 1400cc per rev or approx 84ci - AFAIK it has a 32/36 downdraft on top of it.

I'm planning a similar setup with the same supercharger though fed by two 1.75" SUs from a 240Z (Round tops)

Nice work Bart!
I will try to make mine fit under the hood of my car. Not sure I can do it. Does your blower create that great whining sound when revved up? What % overdrive with the pulleys are you using?

Thanks for the info. I found the pics. Bart did a great job on the install. I will follow along with your progress. Maybe you would consider making a kit once its all sorted? I'd also like to get it under the hood so it'd be a sleeper.

My blower does not make as much whining noise as you would think (or as I would like). This is mostly because of my drive pulleys. The toyota s/c units use a pully like a a/c units one. the real big angry whine that Jimmy huffers produce is mostly the sound of the big toothed belts forcing the air out of the pulley teeth as it is pulled around. because of the cheap air cleaner ther is quite an induction howl, but not really a whine as such. the ratio of my drive pulleys is 1:1. I figured that thid would be a good starting point. Feral posted a formula regarding ratios etc a while back. According to it my set up should make 16.7 psi????? This is really more that the blower is meant to create safely. It makes a bit over 11 at the moment, but my boost guage is a bit iffy, and I keep running out of road/traction. I know a guy who is running a 4AGZE which has pulleys that are suposed to make 18psi, and his blower is smaller than mine.
You blower should be easyer than mine to conceal as it is longer. Mine is a short unit,so I had to mount it forward more to get the pulleys to line up.

Thanks for the explanation. I'll probably not overdrive my blower 50% as planned. I'll start it out 1 to 1. I have no intentions of making more than 10 psi. of boost. My drive belt will be a toothed belt, but somehow I don't think it will creat much of a whine. After all, it is a factory timing belt, and they don't whine unless you overtorque them accidently.

hey, why is it an A series can make use of a blower and over on nissanforums there is this big thing going on about how a GA16 shouldn't use a blower.

ingenuity versus web-dweebs

It's also the Datsun owner's can-do attitude.

Instead of "My Mom will kill me if I break her shopping car"...
