Yes its true. I am back after a short break from datsuns and returned with a 1971 sedan restoration project. Very seriously considering a small turbo for the A12 and keeping it auto.

hey it's looking promising. I like how you are using the lightweight struts. Turbo can make 120hp on a stock A12 (stock pistons, stock head gasket)

A rebuild is on the cards, metal head gasket and forged conrods can be found but having troubles with pistons and dual valve springs and retainers.

None of that is needed for 120 hp. It is needed for ultra-high RPM naturally aspirated, but a turbo doesn't need it. See our tech article $1200 EFI Turbo A12. They key is proper tuning of a/f ratio and spark. Difficult to do with a expensive carburetors, but is possible. Easier to do with cheap EFI

127 hp
stock block, rods, pistons, etc
stock H89 head
stock head gasket

Ah yes looks like my alternator is going to be in the way. I will find another engine maybe even A14 and build it on the side.

someone was selling E15et pistons already teflon coated very tough
rods are already super tough and stock springs fine under 7k rpm

How that 127rwhp is using reworked stock carb! is great

I think the E15 pistons are 78mm and only cost $100ish a set. what kind of bore would I need to do on a A14?

76mm stock available in 77 and maybe 78mm
best 76.5 or 77mm for extra meat

Just use stock A14 pistons -- can make 240 hp. Keep the RPM below 7000 and no need for forged pistons or ARP rod bolts. Keep the engine from detonating (prevent lean-outs and knocking/detonation) and they'll last a while. Check out sikynes turbo development thread

Racers turning 8500 rpm need both forged pistons and ARP rod bolts
