I'm contemplating selling off my 56 series 4 speed gearboxes:

56 mid close gear set which I just had the cluster shaft 3rd gear repaired by Bettany Gear in NZ. Paid $600 for it and would like to get that back. This would be really good for a street car as 1st is still low enough. I can assemble it if needed, shipping is much cheaper as a gearset.

56 series Ultra-close paid $1500 from Classic Datsun Motorsports. It came with extra mainshaft gears. So those would go with it. For overseas shipment I'm willing to disassemble it and ship it as a gearset and discount accordingly. It is also oil tight.

The gear sets are great but really not sturdy enough to run behind my built A15. I ran the mid close box behind my A12 for several seasons without issue. If you're running a stock A14 and are mindful of the box they'd likely be fine. If your motor is over 100HP these will eventually fail and so I'd not recommend them for higher horsepower high torque motors.

Nice stash, Tom! If I didn't already have several pallets of these things on racks in the shed, I'd make the drive out to that bright spot in the desert and take them off your hands! (j/k - I can only dream...)

Stan if I still had the A12 in the car I'd be keeping them. If someone makes me a reasonable offer I'd take it.

I'm cleaning out the garage of everything I don't use, everything from my Blata pocket bike to spare bits from the Formula 500 that won't be used once the Rotax motor goes in. All the funds are going into a fund towards something like a Qauife box or custom fit with something like a Miata gearbox. The car needs more power, if I didn't get completely slaughtered on the straights I think I'd be fastest overall. Before any significant power can be had I need a gearbox that will hold up.

On a different note if I had Dana fab up a removable radiator core support and I modded various bits for quick release I could probably set things up where I could swap gear boxes in 30-45 minutes. Having shoved the motor & trans back 1 1/2 inches makes it a bit of a chore.

great price Tom, Im sure one of the datsun 1000 guys would love it also
Ill try and put it up there to this as a link

You should consider the worldclass borgy T5 its only 35kg in the S-10 version
its very short and various close ratio gearsets are super cheap vs other boxes

four bolts the thing comes off easily and you can use a modded A series auto bell
very easily and the T5 parts are all modular, very easy to play with

Tom this is probably a long shot but do you have any kind of rear end for the Datsun that can handle some extra power? I've got the $$$ if you have the part! :)

Unfortunately I only have a spare 3rd member for my H190 and no complete assemblies.

What ratio H190 3rd member? LSD? Are you willing to sell? Thanks!

I'll shoot you a PM as well as this reply; I'd be willing to sell the spare it's a 4.62 with the spiders welded up (I paid $400 for it ) I was going to swap the R&P into my car which currently has a 4.38 LSD. There is also a guy advertising on 311s.org selling a LSD with 4.62 (I think he was asking $1250).
