Hi everyone... Got an urgent one...
I'm intending to replace the standard 4"x12" rims and 155SR12 tyres with 5.5"x13" rims and 185/60R13 tyres. I know there isn't any hassles with the Rolling diameter so the speedo will remain the same, but I want to know if I'll have any hassles with the wheel/ tyre rubbing against the panel or struts. The strut is standard (no Stanza modded one) so any advice is well appreciated. I also don't want to use things like spacers. Thanks in Advance guys

should be ok, depending on the 13inch rim offset you plan to use, ive used 13 inch hotwire mags from a 120y with spacers and 13inch sunraysia rims, all with no problems on the ute and it has 120y disks and struts on the front. just check the rim otherwise you may have to use spacers

I've recently put 13x6's on my 120Y with I think 175/70 tyres, the only rubbing I get is on extreme full lock, but I got that with the pizza-cutters too.

Hey dude,
I run 185/55 14's on the back and 165/55 14's on the front, on my daily driver. I have no major problems in normal driving circumstances. I do get guard rub in rear when cornering very hard, because on a 4 door 120y the rear shocks are mounted vertically and you consequently get movment between chassis and diff, different on the coupe. Can be solved with nolathaning the shackles and installing a panhard. Up front i get a little bit of rub on max lock. My setup has been lowered prob 3 inches in the front and 2 inches in the back. I think critical thing with the tyre/rim selection, is getting a rim with good rear wheel drive offset, especially if planning to use large rim widths (>6"). The problem on the 120Y's isn't as bad as the 1200 situation though. Hope this helps a little.
Rob :)

Thanks Guys...
I got the rims on Saturday (a full set of 5!!) and have had them polished ready for the tyres... I fitted the rim only to the car and everything was fine. There was about 5mm between the inside edge of the rim and the strut. My only concern now is whether or not the 185/60 tyre rubs on the strut. If so, I'll go to a 165/65R13 as it affects the speedo by only 1.5% as per the calculator I found elsewhere on the site. I'll keep you posted and post pics when finished.

Another update !!! it seems it is easy to get caught out with the Stanza SSS rims... or rather the 120Y hub...It appears that there were two types of hub used with 120Y's. On earlier models, the diameter of the part where the wheel locates and rests on is smaller that later models, that and anoffset of 105mm from rim face to the rear edge was 105mm. Consequently, the SSS rims didn't really fit unless you used spacers with longer studs, or you machined the rims... so Here is the solution: find a set of rims with an offset of 90mm and a hub hole diameter of 80mm. Doing so will allow you to fit the rim on without ANY problems an no requirements for spacers, etc. An example in Australia of a rims that meets these requirements is the "Spitfire" at performancewheels.com.au (see Classic section) I'll post the pics once fitted to the car.
