If I had to make up an airbox/air filter set up I'd likely go down one of two routes.

Find a 4 cylinder bike airbox or truck air box and cut the holes were they needed to be and plug the any holes that don't line up. The same goes if you can find a parallel twin with carb spacing near yours.

If you can't find something close that can be had cheap than simply get some aluminum sheet and fold it up into a shoebox shape. Make the dimensions such that a common air filter fits in the top. Use some angle aluminum to hold the filter in place, cut 45 degree notches and bend it into a rectangle. Cut a couple L shaped pieces and rivet them onto the corners (buck the rivets flush on the underside) Then use spring clips to hold the angle aluminum done onto the top of the box. You can use silicone to seal the seems.

After you have the box made cut two holes for the carbs. You'll need to fabricate a couple of straps of aluminum to fit inside the box to bolt it down.

The only other method I can think of is sticking a salvaged new car airbox and run a pair of hoses to the carbs.

Yes. Here's a 1986-1989 Nissan Pulsar airbox modified for twin carbs and used in Datsun 1200. Something like this may work

tin and rivets can be your best friend
due to the uneven height of the carbs
you will need an uneven stepped base
but boxing it all up then running an
inlet to a pod or similar setup etc.

Thought to upload a picture of the Datsun. The interior is quite rough but my cat seems to like it.
Anyways, the dashboard fiberglass part is complete (2nd time using resin and fibre mat but I guess I did good, too much spills though)

Next on the list is preparing the dash for either paint or vinyl. Not sure yet.

Appreciate the ideas for the air cleaner box, will work on it in the weekend. Also thinking of fabricating a box to fit a standard air filter.

Any wiring diagrams around for the car ? I want to rewire some stuff from scratch like all the lightning components. I myself m a dummy when it comes to electrical so all the help I can get will be much appreciated :)

Little update on the Dash!

Allowed the fiberglass to dry completely and then installed the dash back in the Datto.

Looks good to me and fits perfectly now. Minor adjustments needed where the cluster will go but apart from that, all seems well.

Still not decided on the cluster. The standard EP80 cluster seems like a suitable option but then again thinking about the mile meter cable modifications.

Bad weather in the country so got very limited work done.
* Cleaned the blower motor, mini radiator and the fan. The radiator was full of rust and the condition was almost new. Seems like we were the first people to clean it since it rolled out of the factory. Blower works like a charm now. Have to modify the ducts to fit the starlet dash now.

* The turn signals and the park lights were rewired and all of it work great now..

Next on the list is the air cleaner box but before thathat have to fix the intake manifold, the corner where the #12 nut goes broke off, we tried to fix it with abro steel but it doesn't work.

Thinking of A/C, all the components are in the car except the compressor and condenser. Finding a A series A/C compressor in Fiji is like finding needle in a haystack.
Any ideas of compatible compressors??

Those wires might be for passenger detection

Just about any compressor will work. Here they came with York type (upright piston type) or modern radial type. Some guys used a very small compressor, but most use the standard size used by 1980s-1990s Ford, GM, Toyota and Nissan. See our article Compressor brackets for photos and ideas -- especially the custom brackets which are fairly easy to make

So, during the last few months I was very busy and didn't have time to work on the Datsun. My brother who was helping me also moved away to another city. During that time, I managed to collect few Datsun goodies! Got some brand new fenders and bumpers. The fenders however is from the pre fave lift version. So I decided to switch to that look. Attached pictures are just a test fit of the new grill bumper and fender. Didn't get a new bonnet so will have to cut and shape to match the round edge of the grill

I also have a few spare brand new bumpers if anyone is interested in purchasing it.
The front bumper is from the square face PB310 model and the rear bumper is from the 310 round face model.
