A/C compressor on the other side?

Hi all just wondering if anyone has fitted an ac compressor on the alternator side of the engine block as opposed to the manifold side where the stock bracket would have gone?

This is what I mocked up and now got laser cut in heavy grade steel for the standard bracket but I was hoping to see if it's possible to move it to the other side of the block

Trying to work out how to position efi inlet and turbo and see if its possible to run ac as well.. Yes I know.I'm.asking a lot! I suspect the oil filter will get in the way

Good question, it's hard to imagine fitting one in there but someone may have done it!

The original Datsun 1200 block had the alternator on the manifold side and the AC compressor on the same side. Newer blocks moved the alternator to the right side. All dealer setups had the compressor on the left side either high or low

Compressor can go on either side. See our tech article Compressor brackets. On the right side it goes above the oil pump

Here's one. Custom install on right-side, battery moved to trunk, compressor placed just above oil pump. Mounted like an alternator with no idler pulley -- it pivots to adjust the belt

Thanks yet again David wow that's cool I didn't know it might be possible to get it all in there.

Any idea who did the custom opposite side install I'd love to have a chat!

somebody in Japan. The tech article has photos of two different ones like that, but not a lot of detail

Sam suggested trying a high mount compressor on top of the alternator and try and fab up something for that on the drivers side.. Onwards and upwards

Or alternatively just fabricate a turbo manifold at head port height like a higher mount turbo..

here's another. You can see why the battery has to be moved

https://sun.ap.teacup.com/tabayann-b10/174.html

The compressor bracket are attached oil pump bolt and front cover. The adjuster is from thermostat housing
