Hi fellow 1200 lovers, I have searched and searched and searched. I have an A15 that I would like EFI and turbo, I have everything I need apart from an ECU and sort out the fuel system and relays. I have looked at all types of ECU'S I have a tight budget as I spent way too much on the inlet and exhaust manifolds. Any recommendations or assistance and links to what will work, I would love a microtech, link or the like but they are just so expensive.

There is only one top-drawer budget ECU, that does everything MicroTech does, the MegaSquirt II. Install it and pay a pro to tune it. Or if you are patient and a DIYer there is a lot of information out there, start at MegaSquirt, $400 USD mail order or pay the local tax at $840 AUD

I got a Haltech Elite 550. I got mine on sale but they can be had for 700-1200 USD. I imagine its less in AU since its an OZ company.

+1 for what DD said ( Microsquirt/megasquirt )

Your TUNER will tell you which one he likes to use. Keep him happy
If your tuner is familiar with Microsquirt ( SIMPLEST and CHEAPEST )
then I can recommend it - has been working on mine fine for years
If your on a budget then your probably going to run a 'simple as possible'
system so the more expensive ecu's will have a huge amount of options that your
not ever going to use.

I/we ( acknowledge the tuner ) didn't use half the options(wires) available on the
microsquirt)
Just my 2 cents

MicroSquirt is what Simon used on the turbo A12. I wouldn't call it a simple ECU -- the latest version can do everything Haltech and Microtech do. You can even get a kit form of the MegaSquirt starting at $250 (MicroSquirt is a prebuilt version) if you are handy soldering kit together

Another possible option especially if you are
looking for something cheap but want factory
quality a megasquirt cant get near is a stock
Honda ecu and sensors.
Honda Civic unit combined wit CROME software
then modify to your hearts delight.
Use Honda parts (its a map unit not maf) and save
a penny. Even Sr20det have been powered by them.
Very popular setup for more than Honda.

CROME is free as far as I can see!
Hondas are plentiful with and without dizzies
they are MAP so better than sensitive MAF and
have some degree of self learning ability
