Exhaust manifold came from Australia. Possibly built by someone on this forum.

I like it overall but the ports don't really match my GX head and are going to need some work.

Also the fitment does not work 100 percent with my intake manifold and will also need some hacking to make it work.

First time for me mate, maybe you could be the teacher here, I have no clue basically what I am doing.

I only have my turbo, exhaust manifold, and intake flanges. I plan on using Haltech 550 elite with their proprietary wiring harness, I think it has 36 pins. I looked at their wiring schematic and I could figure it out eventually but surely will need help along the way.

No idea on ignition setup or crank trigger or TPS. My old setup had a TPS but not sure if I should reuse that throttle body or go with a new one.

Another build update. DIY powdercoated parts done back several months ago. Picked up the powder off ebay for $15.

Also a photo of the old ute, old bluey going bye bye to the new owner.

Porsche 914 seats acquired.

Timing cover resanded for sealing against block after powdercoat, anyone doing this should try to avoid those surfaces getting powdercoat, now I know for next time.

Nice finish! That blue looks spot-on the original colour

Haltech does not require crank trigger -- it can use the distributor signal for reference. Of course crank trigger is better but it won't actually make any noticeable HP. There are so many ways to add Crank Trigger, from advanced & simple & cheap *DIY cost $30* to advanced & complicated/expensive. I'm sure Haltech has their preferred way

You can even get Spark Maps without using crank trigger. Advanced ECUs can do custom spark curve maps when using a standard distributor signal (for example, MegaSquirt 2). So maybe Haltech can do that too

These photos were taken 6 mo ago. In retrospect I wish I took more photos of the bottom of the pistons to see if I could confirm these are ACL race pistons.

Timing cover grind.

New seal for crank pulley.

Old goo and crud removed from mating surfaces

New sump gaskets

Installed oil pan and timing cover.

No alterations to timing chain or sprockets, etc..

New airtex water pump from rockauto. Sealed with RTV to timing cover.

I was lucky to get a lot of help from Sikyne when he was doing the thread "turbo 1200 turbo for $1200" using a Microsquirt ECU - Know enough now to get myself into REAL trouble

Almost all ignition+fuel ECU's have fully customizable ignition maps, you can even get them to advance according to readings from the MAP sensor. If you were going to go carby turbo, you can get programmable MSD modules which are basically an ignition-only ECU, same deal, fully customizable maps + advance and retard according to MAP readings, for a fraction of the price of an ECU.
