Yes I have talked to these guys they have the LSD to suit the H190 and are soon to be discontinued :( I may still go this way as the LSD aint too $$$ the worst part wil be the import duty and freight ect they quoted me $500 US + $138 US Freight Im wondering how much the import duty ect will be maybe Errol will know?? Maybe i should just bite the bullet and put it on my Visa LOL the misses would kill me. My gues around teh $1200-$1500 Aus still cheaper than the new one I bought from nissan that didnt fit

For that kind of money, you can shorten and adapt any diff. Even if you pay $600 for an LSD to begin with.

Is it smart to use a rare diff and rare LSD parts for a race car? I'd be going for something that is a "dime a dozen" and up to the job.

These are my soothing 20cents worth of opinion.

Please insert more coins if further opinion is required...

Your such the motor mouth dattodude

I do agree, however, and maybe it's time (with your help) for ddgonzal to put together a cross-reference list of possible swaps with axles that came equipped with LSD's from the factory.

Boy we really do have a limited scope of expression due to scant choice of smiley's on thie forum.

More information on the H190:
Aluminum H190 at least in the US was available from the 521 from 12/71 and 620 to 9/73 models only.(trucks/pick-ups/utes)
The outer diameter of the ring gear is 190mm and inner diameter of 120mm, it uses a 10 mm ring gear bolt with a 1.25mm thread pitch.
Malleable Cast Iron H190 was available in 620 from 10/73, 720 2wd( exc. Z24i and HD), 720 4X4 to 6/83 and D21 2wd 4 cyl. (A/T. to 12/85 amd M/T to 1/86) , plus the 200sx/S110 from 7/81 only.
According to my Competition Book it states that this housing has larger pinion shaft bearings. A solid v.s. a crush type pinion bearing spacer and is 4 mm longer from the axle centerline to the pinion flange mounting surface.
That 4X4 parts store has LSD units from $450, $725 , and $1125 for the H190s.
I going to work backwards on this...I'm going to purchase the $450 unit and buy the pumkin from a 4 cylinder Hardbody with a 3.89 unit ...and Have Fun!!
I'll scan and e-mail DDgonzal this information so that he may post it.

Hi friends,

Beside the B110 SR20DET project car, I also own a Datsun Roadster SRL311. The SRL311 use the H190 aluminium housing.
My final gear is worn out at makes a terrible noise, howling. There are many H190 rar ends made by Datsun/Nissan.
The Nissan Motorsport Competition book is showing all kinds of conversions and ratios. But according to the roaster list, the problem is not the gear as nearly all H190 have 190mm outer diameter and 120 inner diameter, the problem is the shaft and the housing. And I think I don't have to tell you that gear and shaft have to be used as a pair, because they have been machined as it.

Hi Friends,
Beside the B110 SR20DET I also own a SRL311 DATSUN Roadster. The roadster has factory H190 aluminium housing.
Regarding to the roadster list, the problem with the H190 is not the ring as it always has 190mm outer diameter and 120mm inner diameter, but the problem is the shaft and the housing. And I suppose I don't have to remember you that the ring and the shaft have to be used as a pair, as they are manufactured as.

yeah I agree Dattodude, but what diff housing can we shorten and have many variations of LSD and open centre ratios so which are also strong and light enough so that we may enjoy our Datsuns more, without the huge burden of $$$$ ?????????
Any suggestions anyone?
Im thinking Commodore???? maybe Hilux???

Ok, it appears that Converted has inserted another 20 cents piece and will get his money worth hopefully.

This is true in Australia. What cars came with an LSD and weren't IRS? All were big cars. Al will require shortening. Any smaller cars with LSD awill be just as difficult to source parts for at a reasonable price.

Yes, I am talking about using non-Nissan parts again! , but using common sense and a sensitive hip pocket nerve, this is the only way to go.

1. Commodore
2. Falcon
3. Torana
4. Some Commercial vans maybe
5. Volvo

I keep coming back to Commodore because they are the most popular model and have the cheapest parts.

If you are thinking 9 inch...
found this at: http://oldholden.com/?q=node/view/7358

"I to was thinking Volvo, these are a Borg Warner too, so parts should be easy to find, I also know a bloke with about 20 in his back yard (who knows why!). I wouldn't DREAM of a 9", the are heavy and eat HP like nothing else. In Zoom magazine the dyno proved they ate 60HP@rear wheels over a standard VS Commodore diff!"

Here's a 3.0.8 LSD for $350 in Sydney.
